FAQs & Answers About Your HVAC

At Coastal Home Services, we often get questions regarding indoor temperature, humidity, maintenance questions and repair questions. So, today we’ve decided
to go ahead and give you some of the most asked questions we get asked with our responses!

How often should I have my HVAC serviced?

Here in eastern North Carolina, you should at least have your HVAC unit serviced at the change of every season. We are fortunate enough to have distinct
seasons on the Crystal Coast, therefore we do experience quite a change in temperature and weather. It’s important to have your HVAC serviced in preparation
to properly operate when switching from heating to cooling and cooling to heating.

How do I find out what my indoor air quality is like?

The best way to get an accurate analysis on your home’s air quality is to contact a professional. Air quality assessment can detect moisture, pollutants
and other harmful things in your home’s air. The majority of people spend more time inside than out, and it may be hard to believe but sometimes indoor
air can be more contaminated than outdoor air. Give us a call to learn more about air quality.

What is the proper level of humidity in my home?

A humidity level between 30% and 40% is ideal. Anything above this can create a breeding ground for mold and bacteria that can cause allergy and health
problems. If your home’s humidity is high, there are several options. First you should get a humidifier which removes moisture and can help regulate
humidity. If there continues to be a problem, the issue is likely larger and you should contact a professional.

When should I check my air filters?

We suggest checking your air filters every month. If your filters are dirty, change them. Some units may have more than one filter, so make sure you’re
aware of where these filters are located and how many there are.

At Coastal Home Services, our goal is to help keep your home as comfortable as possible throughout the seasons. Here on the Crystal Coast, it’s almost
official the summer season and the temperatures keep on rising! If your HVAC needs service, repair or replacement, give us a call. We are pleased to

in the heat this summer!
